The Wizards of Winter are an eclectic group of musicians from the Metro NY, NJ, PA region with strong Classical and Progressive Rock influences woven throughout their musical careers.
The individual members of the band have performed far and wide throughout their musical careers...from rock festivals in Europe to the elite stages of Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center.
One clear vision brought this group of talented performers together. That was to faithfully reproduce the music of the TranSiberian Orchesta and present it in a more intimate setting.
THE WIZARDS ARE NOT A TSO TRIBUTE BAND. WE ONLY PERFORM A COUPLE OF THEIR SONGS IN OUR LIVE SHOWS.
2011 brought an interesting twist as the band recorded their own Christmas Rock Opera entitles Tales Beneath a Northern Star.
The band started when current musical director/keyboardist Scott Kelly casually expressed his long time dream of putting together a tribute band based around the music of TSO to bassist Steve Ratchen. Steve immediately seized upon the idea and believed that he knew of two talented guitarists (Tom Kager and Tom Hart) that would quickly jump on the project concept as well. Quick calls to long time musician friends brought in Michael Clayton Moore (Vocals), and Sharon Kelly (Vocals).
Auditions were held for the other positions and the project came to life.
As with many groups our size, players have come and gone over the years and we thank them for their service. The current battalion of Wizards is the most tightly knit group to date and we hope to keep the configuration together for the future.
The 2015 tour season brings the opportunity for us to perform with several of the original members of TSO again including--- Tommy Farese, Tony Gaynor, Guy LeMonnier, and Joe Cerisano. It is a great honor and we look forward to sharing the stage again with these talented individuals.
