Recently, a video has been circulating of Matthew Broderick revisitng his famous role as Ferris Bueller. The 10 second video raises a lot of hype and speculation. Is this Ferris' first day off in 26 years? Or is this just a Super Bowl ad?
My initial reaction to the viral Bueller video was,"WHAT?!...(re-watch video) YES! A new Ferris Bueller movie?!" I am sure many others had a similar response as well. However, after further investigation, the clip may only be prefacing a Super Bowl ad. The description of the video itself reads,"Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a "day off" on Monday and catch the big reveal." The video ends with the date of the Super Bowl: 2-5-12. Most other sources are convinced it is simply a mystery Super Bowl ad.
USA Today caught up with Alan Ruck, who played Brodrick's sidekick in the movie, at the Sundance Film Festival recently. They asked Ruck,"[Are you] excited about any Super commericial?" Ruck thought for two seconds and responded "Uh, no."
"Sometimes it does get a little bit old," Ruck says of the continued fascination around the movie. "Boy, that's the character that wouldn't die."
Considering the response I have seen on Facbeook and in the video comments no one seems to know for sure what is in store. But, certainly the fans are craving a new movie.
