Just as the sun revolves around the Earth, so does the nation’s psychedelic pop scene revolve around Pond. Formed in 2008 after good friends Joseph Ryan, Nick Allbrook and Jay Watson hit upon the idea of an all inclusive, ego-free collaborative, the boys immediately recorded their debut album Psychedelic Mango with a little help from good friend Kevin Parker.
Sarah Lou Richards will tell you that she was born in Wisconsin. But the folk-Americana musician known as SLR was born in Nashville.
After studying music education at the University of Hartford’s The Hartt School and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire—and with some vocal inspiration from Shania Twain—Richards shifted her focus from teaching to performing. A few setbacks, though: She didn’t own a guitar. She didn’t know how to write a song. And she didn’t listen to much outside of pop-country radio.
The explosive music of THE CHIMPZ was born and developed from their everyday struggles in the streets of Los Angeles. The band has just released their new single "California", following with a new self-titled EP to be released September 9th, 2014. Their songs are a Street savvy chronicle of their musical journey through the hustle and flow of life in LA, while always delivering a memorable hook.
“We’re horny. And we’re sad.”
We could stop right there. Singer/keyboardist Sarah Rayne makes it abundantly clear that the hormonally charged pop music of Babes is simply an extension of the hormonally charged people who make it – herself, along with birth brothers Aaron and Zach and figurative blood brothers Bryan Harris and Jeffrey Baird.
If There's A Hell Below, new music from Black Milk.

Who we are
A compulsive eye-roller, head-shaker and giver of smirks, you can count on Whitney Capps for some strong opinions. Whitney’s day job is and almost always has been in youth development, beginning her career in arts-integrated after school programming through Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Community Arts Partnerships. She currently works for the University of Chicago helping awesome CPS students prepare for success in college. She has a degree in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California and considers herself an amateur artist in many disciplines, among them jewelry design, trapeze, writing, cooking, filmmaking and ukulele (she knows half of one song). As a part-time artist, a full-time arts consumer and someone who works with artists daily, art in Chicago is definitely her thing.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour announces fall tour dates and share new music!
Tony Lucca: It is nearly impossible to find a current singer/songwriter between the ages of 20 and 40 who doesn’t have a seemingly identical list of influences as their peers. Whether its the soul-bearing lyrics of Stevie Wonder, or the gritty folk music of Bob Dylan, the unbridled creativity of Dave Matthews, or the overwhelming truth of Ray LaMontange, somehow these artists all seem to inform the landscape of the modern singer/songwriter.
Two guys meet at a bar and a band is born. It’s a story as old as beer on tap. Like all good stories, Immigrant Union’s started with a few drinks. And… maybe a few dozen more drinks. The story got a little more interesting when the duo started turning simple chords and melodies into completed songs. And then polished recordings of those songs. And empty bar rooms into epic parties. And music loving barflies into lifelong friends.
Saturated in beautiful harmonies and rousing chord progressions alike, the music of King Washington can be described as a throwback to when rock n' roll was a songwriter's game and at the same time praised for its modern sensibility and innovation. It has been compared to Grizzly Bear, REM, Bon Iver, The Talking Heads, Radiohead, Mott The Hoople, Kings of Leon, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Fleet Foxes, Muse, and The Beatles.
Though Curtis McMurtry is only 23 years of age, many of the characters in his songs seem to have given up on life decades ago. His debut solo album Respectable Enemy (due out August 2014, produced by Will Sexton and engineered by James Stevens) chronicles the narrations of unapologetically bitter individuals still haunted by the ghosts of lovers and friends they have long since driven away.
Lia Mice premieres “Our Heavy Heart” video on Entertainment Weekly and announces CMJ Shows. Lia also announces a set of New York shows including a tonight With Ryn Weaver! Her new album I Love You is out November 4th on Old Flame Records.
R&B songstress Ashanti debuts her music video for her new track “Early in the Morning”. Featuring emcee French Montana, “Early in the Morning” is the newest single from Braveheart, her first release since 2008--available now!
Stufy the Sidekick: As children, many people gave life to their stuffed companions, bestowing upon them names and personalities. As these children grew, their sincere attachment to their inanimate comrades often dwindled or disappeared completely...but little did the world know that the conglomeration of these imaginary personalities would be made manifest in the form of a wandering dream-being collectively imagined by everyone.
